IIFC Waiting RoomThe Institute for Individual and Family Counseling (IIFC) is a training clinic for graduate students in the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies within the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Miami.

Each year the clinic is the primary training site for approximately 25 – 30 students who are pursuing advanced degrees in one of three programs: the master’s degree program in Mental Health Counseling, the master’s degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy, and the doctoral degree program in Counseling Psychology. Child Therapy RoomAll students practice under the direct supervision of University of Miami faculty that are licensed in their field of practice, and the clinic is run by a full-time faculty member whose primary job responsibility is the administration and clinical oversight of all IIFC’s activities. The existence of the IIFC represents a significant commitment on the part of the School of Education and Human Development and the University of Miami to provide a model training environment for its graduate students and valuable community service.



The Institute for Individual and Family Counseling (IIFC) is located on the University of Miami Campus in Coral Gables, Florida. We opened a new, state of the art clinic in May 2013 and we are on the second floor of the Max Orovitz Building. Easy access to public transportation including bus stops and Metrorail stations are around the corner from us. For detailed directions, please see our location.

Hours of Operation
Our office hours are Monday – Saturday by appointment only. Generally, we are open:

Saturday         10:00AM – 2:00PM
Monday            9:00AM – 7:00PM
Tuesday            9:00AM – 8:00PM
Wednesday      9:00AM – 7:00PM
Thursday          9:00AM – 8:00PM
Friday                9:00AM – 5:00PM

We offer a sliding fee scale for counseling services based on income; dedicated to making our services available to the entire community. We have been providing lower cost psychological and educational services to individuals and families for over 30 years.

At the IIFC, we do not accept credit cards and do not bill insurance. We accept cash and personal checks.
